Jovandira is a Tau Sept, that was once an Imperial Relic World.[1]

History

It was conquered by the combined forces of the D'yanoi, Ke'lshan and T'au Septs in M42, during the Tau's Fifth Sphere of Expansion. Afterwards, they became curious to explore and understand the Imperial faith and its little-understood technology. In order to accomplish this, the Tau began excavating Jovandira's ancient shrines and tombs, and shipping their discoveries off-world for further analysis. When the Imperium learned of this, the nearby Strike Force Retribution Torchbearer Fleet was taken from its assigned duty and sent to destroy the Tau. Led by the Captain-General Trajann Valoris, and including forces from the Adeptus Custodes, Imperial Fists and Raven's Watch Chapters, the Strike Force was also charged with recovering any of Jovandira's relics as well. After they arrived, Valoris forces struck at one of the world's cities, where Commanders Starstrike, Novastorm and Shas'la Longstrike were overseeing the excavation of six Imperial relics. In the battle that followed, both sides were devastated and the city was heavily damaged by the fighting. Soon both Starstrike and Novastorm were killed and in retaliation the Tau killed or wounded the Strike Force's leadership as well. Now with no leadership left for either side, both the Imperials and Tau retreated from the ruined city with the relics they had claimed. Though the Imperials had reclaimed more relics, neither side could claim a true victory.[1]
