Kazadin Yallamagasa also known as the Biologis Diabolicus is an exiled Adeptus Mechanicus Magos, who now serves the Alpha Legion aboard the Unseen Space Station.[1a]

Biography

His knowledge of gene-smithing and flesh-crafting led to his exile, some 3,000 years ago, but allowed him to be of service to the Alpha Legion,[1a] in return for the Traitor Legion's protection[1b]. Kazadin's skills were then melded with the wisdom of the Alpha Legion's Apothecaries and began creating new Chaos Space Marines for the Traitor Legion's Ultima Segmentum Warbands. This has allowed them to maintain their numbers at viable levels, when compared to Alpha Legion Warbands active in other Segmentums.[1a] Despite his status as an outsider, no one has found fault with the Magos' work and Kazadin has been providing his services from within his genelabs aboard the Unseen, for as long as anyone can remember. He is aided in his work by the Diabolicus Secundus, which is an Abominable Intelligence Kazadin created to maintain his machinery and contains all of the Magos' knowledge to do so. Also, while the Alpha Legion does protect Kazadin, and allow him to conduct independent experiments,[1b] he has used his skills in gene enhancement to create the Dishonour Guard, which serve as the Magos' bodyguards.[1a]

Despite his arrangement with the Traitor Legion, however, Kazadin still requires payment for his work. This comes in the form of organic materials or test subjects, that Alpha Legion Warbands gather and use to barter with the Magos for his services. Sometimes, even the work required of him, could drive Kazadin to accept it as payment as well. He does have his drawbacks, however, such as not always considering the knowledge base of his audience before speaking. Kazadin will also refuse to work for a Warband, should the Magos feel he is not being fairly compensated for his services. And while he is normally calm, Kazadin will fly into a rageful diatribe, should anyone mention Fabius Bile's name. The Magos feels the Emperor's Children Apothecary is an unskilled charlatan, who does not deserve his reputation and is only driven to inflate his own ego. Kazadin claims Bile has nothing to show for his millennia of tinkering with the biology of Space Marines and kills as many patients as he helps with his unstable and temporary, enhancements.[1b]
