Knight Despoiler

The Knight Despoiler is a type of Renegade Knight.[1]
Overview
The Despoiler-pattern Chaos Knight is in truth a term given to a wide variety of fallen Imperial engines. They may have once been a loyalist Knight Errant, Knight Errant, or Knight Paladin. Whatever their origin, they have since been heavily warped and mutated by the powers of Chaos in addition to physical modification by its pilots and Idolators. They are usually deployed as close-range assault platforms.[5a]
The Fallen Noble pilots of Knights Despoiler vehemently repudiate honour and valor in every form. The burning hatred with which they are filled comes from long exposure to their corrupted Thrones Mechanicum, coupled with the slow erosion of reason and purpose over decades of endless war. Behind each such Knight lies a long history of terror and cruelty, defined by selfish acts and the pursuit of personal power no matter the cost. Unshackled from notions of propriety and obeisance, Knights Despoiler often strive to become absolute rulers of their households by crushing anyone who could challenge their reign.[1]
Knight Despoilers at first glance seemingly appear little different from their Imperial counterparts and they wield a large array of armaments and wargear with each pilot having its own preference. House Mykorphas for example worship Nurgle and thus have their Knights Despoiler become slowly coated in living rust and wield plague-ridden weaponry. House Thryn by comparison have their Despoilers wield solely Reaper Chainsword.[1] Other times, pilots may have Idolator haulers follow in their wake with new weapons options to utilize mid-battle. Some Fallen Nobles take this practice to extremes, changing their minds mid-battle and demanding that their Idolators hasten to alter their loadout immediately. Needless to say, such operations are tremendously hazardous while under fire from the foe. This has led to some Hereteks to fit Knight Despoilers with interchangeable weapons or fleshmetal armaments that can transfigure itself into various forms in battle.[5a]
Whatever the preference, some of the known weaponry commonly deployed by Knights Despoiler include a Battle Cannon, Daemonbreath Thermal Cannon, Gatling Cannon, Reaper Chainsword, or Warpstrike Claw. Support weapons include Daemonbreath Meltaguns, Heavy Darkflamers, Hellstorm Autocannons, Havoc Missile Pods, Ruinspear Rocket Pods, and Heavy Stubbers.[5b]
