He was originally a Dragons Ardent Captain, with two hundred and sixty years of service to his Chapter and was also close friends with his Battle Brother Tanikhor. However this came to an end sometime after the Great Rift's creation, when the Foresworn emerged from the giant Warp Storm and invaded the Chapter's Homeworld Nautilos. During the attack, the Chapter thought the walls of its Fortress Monastery Praecipitium and their world's deadly waves would allow them to defeat the Warband. In the end, the Foresworn's superior numbers won out and its Berzerkers breached the Praecipitium's walls and butchered the Dragon's Ardent. Only Kurrinon survived and became despaired when he found the slain body of his friend Tanikhor.[1]
In keeping with the Dragon Ardent's traditions of claiming the heads of their dead, the Captain began decapitating his Battle Brother. As he did so, Kurrinon almost wished he had convinced his Chapter Master to charge out to meet the Foresworn, so that at least he could have died with his Chapter. The Captain then finished cutting off Tanikhor's head and held it close to him in mourning, as he told his friend that this was not the end. It was then that Kurrinon remembered the tribal population of Nautilos believed that if you held its seashells to your ear, you could hear the demands of their gods. Kurrinon did the same with Tanikhor's lips and suddenly heard the gods speaking to him. The Captain then swore revenge on the Foresworn and vowed to kill as many of them as he could. Kurrinon then left and entered the Great Rift in pursuit of the Warband, where he began a decades long journey that saw him kill an unknown number of the Foresworn. However during the course of doing so, he became delusional and forgot that his friend had died. This led Kurrinon to begin seeing and speaking to Tanikhor as if he was still alive and the Captain even accepted his counsel on matters. Kurrinon's need for vengeance later led him to fall to Heresy and he was declared a Heretic by the Imperium. He became desperate to save himself afterwards and Tanikhor advised him to join the Foresworn for his safety. Though Kurrinon was very reluctant to join the very Warband that had destroyed his Chapter, the imagined Tanikhor convinced him that it was the only way to save himself from the Imperium.[1]
In order to be accepted by the Warband though, Tanikhor told Kurrinon he would need to have the Butcher's Nails implanted within his head. His Battle Brother then directed the Captain to the Chaos Space Marine Apothecary Bredek to have the procedure done. Even as Kurrinon has doubts about going through with it, but Tanikhor is there to continuously convince him, that he has no choice to do so. While Bredek is left wondering who the Captain is talking to, he begins to implant the Butcher's Nails and the operation is a success. Kurrinon then joins the Foresworn and losses himself to the madness of the Nails. He fully falls to the worship of Khorne and even forgets who he was, as he follows the Warband in butchering anyone they come across. The former Captain even comes to believe that he was always a World Eater and had even took part in the Horus Heresy's Siege of Terra. To the point that Kurrinon vividly remembers seeing the Primarchs Angron and Sanguinius fight within the Imperial Palace. This delusion holds firm, as he goes on to kill an untold number of Imperials, Xenos and Heretics in the Blood God's name.[1]
Unbeknownst to him, however, a Torchbearer Fleet had come to Nautilos sometime after he had left. It had been sent to reinforce the Dragons Ardent, but finding it destroyed instead, the Fleet used its Greyshields to Refound the Chapter. The restored Dragons Ardent then carried on the legacy and traditions of their forebears, as they served the Imperium. Eventually, though, word reached them that two members of the original Dragons Ardent had survived the Foresworn's attack and in fact joined the very Warband that had destroyed their Chapter. After learning of this, the Refounded Dragons Ardent's Chapter Master ordered a group of the Chapter's forces to hunt down the Traitors and bring back their heads to him. They would learn of Kurrinon's name and it would be the Champion Su'ul Marhen who tracked the Traitor down, as the Foresworn were invading an Imperial world. After catching Kurrinon by himself, Marhen struck and disarmed the Traitor before knocking him down. The Champion then told the former Captain what had occurred after he left Nautilos and the subsequent rebirth of the Dragons Ardent. Kurrinon was left dumbstruck by all of this, as the use of his name had brought his true past back to him and he remembered everything. Including that his Brother Tanikhor was long dead. Afterwards, Marhen tried to convince Kurrinon to repent his Heresy by giving the name of the other traitorous Dragons Ardent member. Kurrion refused, however, as he believed it was far too late for him to earn any redemption. As the Butcher's Nails begin throbbing in his head, Kurrinon instead tells the Champion he was an Eater of Worlds. This led an exasperated Marhen to execute the former Captain and as he died, Kurrion heard Tanikhor whisper to him that this was not the end. He believes this, for as long as there was vengeance Kurrion would always exist and he knew there was no true end for those who pledge their souls to Khorne.[1]
