The Limpet Boat is a small transport craft that is carried on board a larger spaceship like a Greathold.^[1]

After arriving at a destination, the Limpet Boat detaches itself from its mothership to transport cargo, crew and passengers. These and other necessary tasks are done to prepare the parent vessel for its next voyage.^[1]

Limpets are a group of aquatic snails with a strong, muscular foot that they use to tightly attach themselves to surfaces. Consequently this name has also been adopted for man-made constructs that attach themselves to surfaces like Limpet mines.
