History
The principal world of the System, it was often simply referred to as Manachea.[1a] Manachea along with its neighboring worlds had weathered the Age of Strife mostly intact under the leadership of the Beket Noble House.[1b]
Sporting a sprawling population and climate that had yet to succumb to urbanization, it was dominated by 11 Hive cities clusters distributed across its land masses and linked by a continent and sea-spanning maglev system. It formed a highly integrated and efficient civilization that made it on par with the Hive Worlds of Segmentum Solar. It was the hub of several Administratum divisions for the region such as those managing the Tithe as well as the Arbites.[1a]
During the Horus Heresy the Manachea Commonwealth remained loyal to the Emperor, and was subsequently attacked by traitor forces. The Sons of Horus under First Captain Ezekyle Abaddon launched a swift and brutal killing blow on Manachea Vysidae, hammering Hive Illium from orbit to probe for weaknesses in its Void Shielding and anti-ship battery network. When such weaknesses were identified Abaddon launched landings with gunships, overwhelming outmatched Solar Auxilia and Imperialis Militia to capture the key anti-ship batteries. Abaddon then landed Titans of the traitor branch of the Legio Tempestus as orbiting warships reduced Hive Illium to rubble via bombardment.[1c] Manachea fell to the Traitors, but was reclaimed during the Great Scouring.[1b]
