A memcore is a common augmetic device amongst most Magi and other tech-priests.[1] These recollection machines allow for a greater capacity of knowledge to be stored in one's own mind.[3]

Overview

An interface port for an individual's memcore is typically at the base of their skull.[1] An individual's intelligence core is made up of 2 components: the memcore processor and the cogitation unit.[3] The recollection of experiences, their memories, can be inloaded or exloaded from one's memcore. This data can take the form of both vid and audex data.[4b]

These neurological augmetics can be taken out and slotted back into place. It might have a plastek patch to cover the socket in one's skull. Another potential feature is a small reset switch hidden beneath the Machina Opus on the top of the memcore.[3] An individual might have multiple memcores.[2]

Augmetics, such as eyes, can directly circumvent optical neural pathways and feed information directly to the memcore. This frees up the user's native biological bandwidth for other tasks.[3]

Some are reticent to tinker with their own memcores since mistakes could erase decades of hard-earned skills and knowledge, or potentially fry one's brain when reactivated within the housing of their user's skull.[3]

Aside from augmetics, memcores are used as data banks elsewhere, such as the cogitators of datalooms.[4b]
