Plastek is a type of plastic-like material[2][8] used by the Imperium.[1]

Examples

Plastek is a versatile material that can be fabricated into a multitude of forms. Plastek can be fabricated in the form of a hard rigid material or a flexible one. It can also be fabricated to be transparent or opaque. A great many of mundane objects in the Imperium are made from plasteks. Soft, layered clothing can also be made from plastek.[7a]

  • Some mundane examples include tables,[5a] trays,[6c] sacks,[7c] and ink dispensing writing utensils.[6a] Plastek furniture, such as tables, are common within the individual habs of Hive City's Hab Blocs.[5a]
  • Plasweave is a cheap fabric for clothing.[8]
  • Novoplas - Cheap, man-made material (usually for garments)
  • Environment Suits are among the items that are made from it.[1]
  • Fuel cannisters used to deliver promethium to troop transport vehicles are often made from plastek.[3a]
  • Plastek sheeting can work as an insulator for both heat[3a] and protection from potent Motive Forces (electricity).[3b] It's commonly used as a tubular covering of wires, forming the ubiquitous cables seen throughout Imperial technology for this reason.[3d]
  • Plastek tubing is also used move various liquids. Such as for medical purposes, such as being a means for liquids to being conveyed into an individual's circulatory system.[3c][3e]
  • Transparent plastek robes are often used by those operating bloody cyber-surgical slabs.[4]
  • Plastek organs, such as hearts, are also possible.[5b]
  • Various augmetics can be plastek implants.[6b]
