Warrior and heraldry of the Morsseous Crusade[1]

The Morsseous Crusade is an active Crusade of the Black Templars.[1]

Overview

The macabre warriors of the Morsseous Crusade are known for their practice of carrying the revered bones of their Chapter's heroes. The skulls of fallen champions are gilded or bronzed or even steeped in sacred stains of various hues. Servo-Skulls made from the remains of particularly pious Chapter Serfs circle their strike forces, recording their holy deeds and serving as reconnaissance tools. Mechanized Ossuaries harvest the battlefields in the Crusade's wake, acid-scrubbing the flesh from corpses and reaping huge quantities of new bones. Their warriors wear so many bones to battle that they clatter as they advance, including not just those of their fallen Battle-Brothers but also zealous Imperial civilians such as individuals who pointed out a Heretic or Witch.[1]

The Crusade is currently commanded by Marshal Gorvian Demeer and has found common cause with many Puritan Inquisitors. Many of the Crusade's recent battles have been fought using Inquisitorial information and forces. However Deemer has also drawn condemnation from other Inquisitors for acting on his contact's advice to hunt down their rivals.[1]

The Crusade has recently supported a Ordo Hereticus conclave seeking a viable passage through the Great Rift near the Galactic Core. This has led them into conflict with the Urani-Surtr Regulates of the Leagues of Votann.[1]
