Nahariel was the Dark Angels Chapter's Supreme Grand Master, during the Hundred Planet Rebellion.[1]
History
During that period, he would visit The Rock's Stasis held traitor Luther, in order to gain some insight in how to stop the Rebellion's mad priest Alldric. Nahariel would be the second Supreme Grand Master to do so in over a millennia, since Anaziel's time, as Luther's usefulness had waned. When the Grand Master asked for his aid, in how to stop Alldric, Luther remarked that removing the priest would do nothing. The factors that allowed Alldric to cause the uprisings would still be there and the Imperium was not equipped or willing to change them. Remove the priest and someone else would take his place. When Nahariel insisted, however, Luther related the story of what occurred after he conquered Zaramund. The Horus Heresy was raging at that time, and Luther's old comrade Typhus soon arrived at Zaramund with a damaged Death Guard fleet. They had come seeking aid and repairs, as they were being pursued by the vengeful Dark Angels Captain-Paladin Corswain. Through manipulation and deceit, Luther managed to both hide Typhus' fleet from Corswain and convince the Captain-Paladin of his continued loyalty to the Imperium. This was even after Typhus had given Luther a Chaos touched blade, known as Lifebane, to kill Corswain with, which Luther refused to do. After the story, Nahariel asked what became of the Lifebane and how any of this would help him defeat the priest Alldric. Luther remarked that he had refused to use the Lifebane on El'Jonson, as he realized he had been wrong to betray his Primarch. As a sobbing Luther relived his ancient folly, Nahariel once again asked for his insight into fighting Alldric. Luther would refuse, however, stating that no matter what he said, the Dark Angels' Grand Masters never truly heard what the traitor told them. Luther then asked his Primarch to free him, as he could not save the Dark Angels from themselves. Nahariel would then leave, but not before remarking that it was not the Dark Angels who needed to be saved.[1]
