History
Millennia ago, before the Imperium was formed, the subterranean caverns of Pelucidar were seeded with bioengineered plants, which eventually formed great underground jungles.[3]
During Angron's invasion of the Armageddon system, a space battle at St. Jowen's Dock succeeded in blowing a large drive section away from Angron's space hulk, the Devourer of Stars. The unit was caught in the gravity well of Pelucidar, whereupon it impacted upon the planet and seeded its atmosphere with deadly pollution from the hulk's fuel supply. Only those living beneath the planet's surface were able to survive, but were subsequently faced with another terror; the hulk's lengthy existence within the warp had tainted every aspect of the hulk, so that the pollution was saturated with warp-spawned toxins, which destroyed the minds of the remaining population. All perished within a year of the incident, and the Pelucidar quarantine remains in effect to this day.[1]
During the Third War for Armageddon, orks forces apparently landed on Pelucidar.[3]
