Phobos is one of two moons of Mars, capital of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Overview

Phobos is a gun-studded world, used as an orbital fortress which protects the Red Planet.[1] At the time of the Great Crusade it contained vaults of ancient and sometimes forbidden technology acquired by the Mechanicum which could only be unsealed by order of the Fabricator-General.[3a]

History

During the Schism of Mars in the Horus Heresy, the moon's vaults were raided by loyalist Skitarii to prevent the relics within from falling into traitor hands.[3a] Later during the Siege of Terra, a coalition of surviving Loyalist Skitarii Conclaves launched a suicidal attack on the moon. Coming into combat with tech-horrors unleashed by Kelbor-Hal's Dark Mechanicum, the loyalists nonetheless were able to cleanse the moon as the Traitors were distracted from the war on Terra.[3b]

During the War of the Beast in M32, Fabricator-General Kubik experimented with Ork teleportation technology by teleporting Phobos from one side of Mars' orbit to the other.[2]
