The Fabricator-General, also known as the Magos Mechanicus, is the highest ranking position of the Adeptus Mechanicus. A Fabricator-General oversees their respective Forge World along with their deputy, the Fabricator-Locum.[5]

Overview

While many Forge Worlds have their own Fabricator-General, it is the Fabricator-General of the Machine Cult's homeworld of Mars that is the most powerful and prestigious. In addition to overseeing the general Mechanicum, the Fabricator-General of Mars is the head of the Cult Mechanicus and speaker of the Synod of Mars (formerly the Martian Parliament)[3]. The Fabricator-General of Mars is most often chosen from the Forge Master of the Olympus Mons Forge Temple.[4]

As the leading figure of one of the Imperium's most powerful and influential organisations, they are invariably a member of the High Lords of Terra.[1]

History

During the early days of the Great Crusade, the Mechanicum was led by the Martian Parliament. The Fabricator-General acted as the Martian ambassador to Terra and had a seat on the War Council of the Great Crusade.[3] At some point before Kelbor-Hal held the position, the post had evolved into the leader of the Mechanicum.

At the end of the 41st Millennium the Fabricator-General was Oud Oudia Raskian, but his position was being threatened by Archmagos Belisarius Cawl, the famed creator of the Primaris Space Marines. The Cawl Inferior has been pushing the recently resurrected Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman to make him Fabricator-General, but the Primarch refuses to do so, as the Archmagos is considered a Heretek by much of the Mechanicum and his appointment would led to civil war.[6] Cawl himself insists that he has no interest in a political position,[7] and is unsure why the Cawl Inferior is so persistent in its request.[8]

Following the presumed death of Oud Oudia Raskian, Friedisch Adum Silip Qvo heard a petition by Leeta Unter Sobel-Phi, a representative of the Synod of Mars, to become the new Fabricator-General and prepare for what they saw was inevitable civil war within the Imperium. Following up on news that the Golden Throne was failing, this new Mechanicus sect expressed doubts as to the divinity of the Emperor as the Omnissiah and wished to take Mars in a new more independent direction from Terra. Qvo stated that Cawl had no interest in such an endeavor and dismissed the representative.[9]

Sometime later, Xasandera Valdet became the Fabricator-General of Mars.[10]
