Polia was a factory city on the world of Nimbosa.[1]

The city was defended by the Vostroyan IX regiment during the T'au attempt to annex that world in late M41. Brightsword led the T'au offensive into the city, finding Graf Toschenko's men dug in and prepared. Rooftop firefights were spread throughout the city in Brightsword's attempt to gain a position to blast the Imperial positions from on high. Days of fire had no effect on Toschenko's position, so the Kroot and Pathfinder teams were sent in, fighting their way into the cathedral and butchering the defenders by hand.[3]

Toschenko realized the T'au would systematically wipe the Imperials out if something was not done. A general assault order was given, and over 2,000 Firstborn rushed out of their positions in a factory facility down into the fight for the cathedral. When they arrived, the Kroot were already in retreat. The Vostroyans were bolstered by their success, bringing in armour and rushing into the open streets. Barely any resistance was encountered until the Guardsmen were mere meters from protection. Stealth teams, Crisis Battlesuits, and Seeker Missile fire ripped into the Vostroyan ranks.[3]

Toschenko's command squad was cut down in the first seconds. Raising the fallen banner high, he rallied the surviving Vostroyans for a last stand. Hundreds of T'au were killed by bayonet and chainsword, but the Imperials had no chance from the start. Brightsword took to the sky, spotting Toschenko and putting him down in a hail of gunfire.[3]

Although the Vostroyans were wiped out by the T'au, their sacrifice inspired the people of Nimbosa to refuse to submit to the xenos and their "Greater Good".[1] Although they fought hard, The T'au would go on to exterminate the entire human population of Nimbosa.[2]
