Pra'yen is a medium sized Tau Sept and military outpost, that is the seventh and outermost world within the Dal'yth System[1] and was established as part of the Tau Empire's First Sphere of Expansion. It provides the System's first line of defense and was also the first Tau Sept to be invaded by the Imperium, during the Damocles Crusade.[2]
The System was targeted, due to the Dal'yth Sept being a launching point for the T'au's forces, that were being sent to conquer Imperial worlds on the other side of the Damocles Gulf. The Damocles Crusade invaded Pra'yen first, as it held the second sizeable defense after Dal'yth. The Crusade's commanders had deemed Sept's defenses to be inadequate, however, and they assumed it would be easily defeated and cleansed, like they had done to the similarly defended T'au world, Viss'el. This was proven wrong, though, as not only was Pra'yen a fully operational military outpost, but an entire T'au Empire fleet had been hiding near the Sept as well. When the Crusade attacked Pra'yen, the hidden T'au fleet launched its own counter-attack on the Imperium's invading forces.[1]
