Prognosticator (cogitator)

A Prognosticator is a navigational cogitator, much more efficient than conventional ones, allowing for farther calculated warp jumps than any vessel without a Navigator aboard can muster.[1]
It is a forbidden device purported to be a result of tech-heresy, as it incorporates some minor examples of maletek, however it is unknown if it for certain was a result of actions of hereteks. The speculation pertaining to the origin of prognosticators divagates between iniquitous hereteks and forgotten sorcerous civilisation residing at cores of Great Warp Storms of the Halo Margins.[1]
No matter the controversy Prognosticators find a common accommodation aboard vessels of smugglers, pirates and other persons of dubious legal status.[1]
