Void Abacus
A Void Abacus is a piece of archeotech from the Dark Age of Technology which, when integrated into a vessel's auspex and propulsion systems, allows for not only accurate but also unprecedentedly safe void jumps outside of charted routes, that cover distances 4-5 times longer than any standard unpiloted by Navigator ship can in a one jump.[1]
While as far as archeotech go an Abacus is far from rare, famously unearthed from the bowels of planet Soloman as well as recovered from many ancient hive spires or space hulks, the threat that it represents to the monopoly of Navis Nobilite is immense. The Nobilite holds no precedence to outlaw the holy relic of ancient humanity technological might, however due to their political primacy the open secret is that there is little that one can do against their acquisitions, or purposefully accidental destruction and sabotage of all Void Abaci they can find reported to be in one's possession, only allowing hopes of not perishing alongside the prized artefact.[1]
