Quarry Rats
The Quarry Rats are a Genestealer Cult,[1a] that was created by Hive Fleet Bakasura.[1c]
History
They were originally unnamed and rose from an Imperial Mining World whose population extracted purely decorative materials for preening off-world elites. As the miners did so, their employers also forced them to wear ostentatious mining suits, so that they looked the part when clients toured the mines. The Cult that would become the Quarry Rats would do so as well for generations, following the will of their Patriarch, Light's Herald, and hoping that one day the Far Fathers would appear. These were beings of distant light whom the Genestealer Cult had an unshakable trust in and who would one day descend to banish away the darkness of their Homeworld.[1a]
Eventually, though, the Light's Herald led the Genestealer Cult into rebellion and they successfully overthrew the Imperium's rule of the Mining World. Afterwards, they named themselves the Quarry Rats, to reflect their former plight, and chose to continue to wear their mining suits. With their home world now in their grasp, the Genestealer Cult then preceded to infiltrate and then conquer the rest of the worlds in their system. The Imperium later sent an Astra Militarum suppression force to destroy the Quarry Rats, but this ended in failure. The Cult was able bring down the suppression force from within, after they infiltrated its chain of command, and co-opted its Guardsmen and war machines to their cause. The Quarry Rats now plan to use this new military might to support their expansionist plans to conquer more worlds.[1a]
Description
The Quarry Rats' skin tones reflect their origin with Hive Fleet Bakasura, with their bodies being a sandy brown colour, while their limbs have a purple and yellow colourisation. This is to varying degrees, though, as it is quite evident in the Genestealer Cult's Acolyte Hybrids, while being more subtle in the Quarry Rats' Neophyte Hybrids. However, all of the Cult's members' forehead ridges glow with vivid blue crackling psychic energy. This comes from their Patriarch,[1c] Light's Herald,[1b] who is the main conduit of the Quarry Rats' Broodmind.[1c]
The Genestealer Cult's mining uniforms are grey and turquoise, with brass details[1a]
