Quradim is a world of the galaxy[1a], that lies near the Realm of Ultramar.[1e]
Overview
Quradim is the third planet in a system of five worlds orbiting a Sol-like star. At one time it possessed a single moon, but it was destroyed several thousand years before the Indomitus Crusade.[1f]
History
Around the time of the 31st Millennium, Quradim was classified as a Garden World.[1a] Following the Horus Heresy, an Iron Warriors warband established a powerbase on the planet, constructing twelve strongholds to secure it. The Ultramarines Chapter, under the command of Roboute Guilliman, invaded Quradim during the Great Scouring with attached Imperial Army support in an attempt to eliminate the warband. Although the Imperial forces took heavy casualties, Guilliman refused to subject Quradim to exterminatus, telling Marius Gage that he did not wish a repeat of what had happened on Thoas.[1a]
Some time later, Quradim became the site of an outpost of the Genesis Chapter, who maintained a garrison on the planet manned by members of the Chapter's Seventh Company[1g] supported by a warship (the Frigate Excelsior).[1f] During the Indomitus Crusade, Quradim was once again attacked by the Iron Warriors.[1b][1d] The garrisoning Space Marines of the Genesis Chapter defended the planet, supported by soldiers of the Newfound Expeditionary Auxilia.[1b] However while they were successful in defeating the Iron Warriors, their Warsmith Bolaraphon was able to detonate a Virus Bomb, killing the world.[1h]
Geography
At one point, Quradim hosted a number of hive cities. However, by the Age of the Dark Imperium, most of these had been abandoned as the planet's population had been drastically reduced.[1c][1d] The planet's surface featured a number of sinkholes large enough to be seen from orbit.[1f]
