The second squad of the Second Company of the Ultramarines Chapter has a battleline battlefield role.[1a]

Overview

The 2nd Squad with their Company fight the Saim-Hann Aeldari

As one of the foremost squads of the second Ultramarines battle company, the second squad has been through countless battles against a myriad of foes. The squad has taken many different forms throughout the decades, switching wargear options to suit the nature of their missions.

History

Squad Romulus

At one point under the leadership of Cato Sicarius, the second squad of the second company was led by Sergeant Romulus, and designated Squad Romulus. Due to the pre-Primaris time period, the squad was only able to deploy as a Tactical Squad.[1a]

Squad Romulus had an attached Rhino, named Corpus.[1b]

New Crusaders

During the Plague Wars, the entirety of the second squad was slain by the Death Guard. As a result, the squad was completely replaced with new marines, and was given the name the New Crusaders. While Primaris marines existed at this time, they weren't as widespread amongst the Second Company, and so the New Crusaders still operated as a traditional Tactical Squad without any Primaris members.[2]
