Saiph was a recruitment world[1a] and Fief World[2] for the Blood Angels Legion during the Great Crusade[1a] and Horus Heresy.[2]

Overview

A savage irradiated wasteland,[1a] Saiph's notoriously aggressive[3] barbaric population frequently slaughtered one another. Its ferocious inhabitants made fine Blood Angels Space Marines,[1a] since before their Primarch Sanguinius was united with his Legion, during the Great Crusade.[3] When this occurred, the Saiph-born Blood Angels were moulded properly under the Primarch's teachings,[1a] though he came to lament their inclusion into his now enlightened Blood Angels.[3] In addition, the world also provided Cohorts for the Solar Auxilia known as the Saiphan Elevatii (many members of which were failed Legion Aspirants deemed unsuitable for one reason or other).[2]

Despite their bloodthirsty reputation, during the Battle of Signus Prime many of the recruits from Saiph maintained their sanity while the Terran and Baalite recruits succumbed to the Red Thirst.[1b]

History

Later in the Horus Heresy, the world was invaded by the World Eaters. Blood Angels Medicae Primus Anastor Kendral waged a brutal guerrilla war against the World Eaters for many years, forcing them to evacuate in 012.M31 during the Great Scouring.[1a]
