The Saturnyne Rams were Solar Auxilia Regiments, active during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy.[1]

History

When the Solar Auxilia was formed in the early days of the Great Crusade, the Saturnyne Rams were the first ten Cohorts that were created. However they were more or less the same as the Void Hoplites of the Saturnyne Ordo, which the Solar Auxilia was based off of.[1]

As the Great Crusade continued, the Rams would become known as renowned warriors, whose cohorts were legendary for their discipline. They also became known for being age-old rivals with the Cthonian Headhunters, who lacked the Rams' discipline, but still had a tally of victories that equalled theirs. This rivalry continued into the Horus Heresy, though while the Rams remained loyal to the Imperium, the Headhunters joined the Traitor forces that served Warmaster Horus.[2]

As the foremost of their kind, the Saturnyne Rams were equipped with the best wargear that the Imperial Army had at its disposal, including large numbers of Dracosan transports, the latest Leman Russ Tanks, and super-heavy tanks.[6]
