Scathia[1d] is an Imperial world, that was brought into Compliance during the Great Crusade.[1a]
History
This was after it was chosen to be the gateway world for the Imperium's nascent Night Crusade, due to Scathia's ideal position, both spatially and within the erratic flows of the Warp, to the targeted region of space known as the Occluda Noctis. At that time, however, the world was ruled by a Human civilization that refused to join the Imperium[1d] and was defended by a powerful fleet[1c] and several starbases[1b]. The Primarchs Dorn, El'Jonson and Fulgrim would take part in the Night Crusade and each led their Legionaries into attacking Scathia, to ensure the Crusade could begin. The world's fleet and starbases were soon defeated, and Scathia was then invaded by the Legions. It was thought that with its strongest defenses defeated, the world's resistance would be short lived[1c], but Scathia's leadership stubbornly refused to surrender to the Imperium. As a result, the world would lose several million of its population to the invasion[1d], before the Imperium brought Scathia into Compliance.[1a]
