Skull Reaper is a unique daemon engine of Khorne that resides mostly on the planet Cho'unda, but is occasionally seen on other worlds in the Screaming Vortex while rumours suggest that it might not be as unique as believed.[1a]

Overview

Skull Reaper stands slightly taller than a warhound titan and resembles a biomechanical Bloodthirster. One of it's arms is made of flesh and mounts a turbo-melta gun, while it's other arm is mechanical, it is fully articulated, as if it were alive, and wields a massive chain axe.[1a]

History

Nobody knows or even claims to know how or why Skull Reaper was created, but the people of the Talax system worship it as an avatar of their god of blood and anger, Gorgeth,[1a] and the shaman-smiths who live on the world of Cho'unda build ever-improving daemon engine designs to earn Skull Reaper's favour. Every eight years, during a system-wide event called The Encarminata, the daemon engines are taken to the Island of Dust, where Skull Reaper lives, and have the engines battle each other in an arena for the right to challenge Skull Reaper themself. Although Skull Reaper is yet to lose such a challenge, they then declare which of the engines that fought are worthy of Gorgeth, which forces the rivals of those engine's designers to build that design until an even better one can be made for the next Encarminata.[1b]
