The Old Ones were an ancient race or group number of space-faring races numbering extremely few. There is very little known about them, as even who had an advanced civilisation before the most ancient races development of the Young Races in the current age are but striplings before them.
History
The history of the old ones is a mystery to every current race. Worse yet, their history is rife with contradicting information and there is little knowledge left with which to trace out the truth. They are notable for being the first race of beings that crossed the sea of stars and thus the eldest species within the galaxy. The Old Ones are said to have had a slow, cold-blooded wisdom who studied the stars that rose astrology and astronomy to an arcane science. It was through their understanding of the universe that allowed them to manipulate alternate dimensions and it was known that they took part in great works of psychic engineering.1-p24 At some unknown point, they crafted the Webway to serve as a conduit through which they could travel to far-flung worlds without suffering from the tides of the Warp.6-p8 Such was their advanced science that they had the capacity to cross vast tracts of space with a single step by way of Webway portals and through such means they managed to spread their spawn to many other places. They believed that all life was useful and they are known to had brought about the rise of numerous new species as well as impregnated thousands of worlds through terraforming, filling the desolate wastes of the galaxy with garden planets capable of new lifewhich they made their own. As they passed through the cosmos, a number of younger and fiercer races developed within their wake, including which included the Necrontyrwho struggled in their colonisation of other worlds. During this encounter, the ultra-intelligent races of mystics known as the Old Ones were seen to had swiftly colonised other worlds with far greater ease and had an immense longevity to the point of immortality. This kindled a burning hatred within the Necrontyr who had struggled with their diseased bodies caused by their harsh sun and the difficulties they faced in colonisation of the stars. The jealousy that grew eventually led to the ancient Necrontyr dedicated their entire civilisation to the single minded goal of the extermination of the Old Ones and their spawn. 1-p24
The Terrible wars were known to had followed this chain of events but all ended with the Necrontyr immediately reccognized 's inability at vanquishing their foes. Despite their advanced technology, they found themselves constantly outmanoeuvred by the superiority Old Ones due to their mastery of Webway portals. Eventually, the Necrontyr was pushed back to such an extent that they were considered little more than an irritant to the Old Ones, and grew jealous forced back to the outer dark of the halo stars where they were forgotten. This imprisonment lasted for centuries as they sought to find a suitable weapon to unleash against their long lives foes leading to the Necrontyr studying their sun whereupon they discovered ancient entities that resided on them which they made manifest and named C'tan, or star-gods in their language which they used as their new weapon against the Old Ones.1-p24 Through the C'tan, the Necrontyr were transformed into a cold machine race of beings that became known as the Necrons who were now free to pursue ttheir vengeance against their ancient foes. This time, the conflict was far different from the previous wars as the Old Ones mastery of life-giving sciencesthe Warp was now countered by the C'tan's supremacy of the material universe. This jealously gave rise In time, the C'tan began to hatred, and dominate the Necrontyr warred endlessly with galaxy whilst the Old Onesbastions were besieged and their nurtured races being fed upon like cattle by the eternal hunger of the star-gods. Entire worlds were razed, suns extinguished and entire star systems devoured whole by the terrible C'tan.1-p24
Despite their effortslegendary patience and implacability, the Necrontyr were but a minor annoyance to the Old Ones began to grow desperate and began breeding new forms life with an even stronger connection to the Warp with the intention that these manipulated species having the Necrontyr power to channel their psychic might to defend themselves. Many warrior races were uynable to vanquish created in this manner and there is the belief that species such as the Eldar, K'nib and Rashan along with many others ranked among their hated foesnumber. In It took millennia before these new creations were ready and in that time, the C'tan along with their Necron armies extinguished even more life in the cosmos.1-p24 According to Eldar legend, the paradise the Old Ones pushed had created a paradise which was now descreated by the fledgling empire to C'tan who the Eldar knew as the outer reaches Yngir.1-p31 Among their creations also included early Mankind who were tree beasts that were part of the galxay, leaving their ecosystem but otherwise had no greater role defined for them to cold, distant seas of by the Halo Stars where they were quickly forgottenOld Ones. 1-p9 This imprisonment lasted for centuries was the time that the Eldar referred to as they sought to find a suitable weapon to unleash against their foes leading to the Necrontyr studying their sun whereupon they discovered ancient entities that resided on them God War which they made manifest and named was fought between the C'tansupported Necrons and the Old Ones who were aided by their successor races.1-p9 During ancient times, or star-gods in their language which they used the Eldar learnt a great many secrets of the Warp from the ancient races known as their new weapon against the Old Ones.15-p18 From this encounter, the Eldar learnt technologies that led to the eventual creation of the Webway.4-p24p12
Through By the time the Old Ones marshalled their forces, there were only four C'tanin existence but much of life in the galaxy had already been extinguished.1-p31 Eventually, the Necrontyr hot-blooded Young Races were transformed into a race of cold, unfeeling machine warriors, free to exact vengeance against their bitter enemies. Aided by unleashed which sent the C'tan the conflict was far different from the previous wars Necrons reeling as the Old Ones mastery power of the Warp was now countered by an anathema to them and they struggled to contain the C'tan's supremacy advance of the material universethis new offensive. In timeresponse, the C'tan overturned unified for the Old Ones, first time in millions of years and crushed their bastions, slaughtering began the great warding which was to seal the Empyrean from the material univeerse forever thus countering the nacent races in their wake. Entire worlds were razed, suns extinguished and entire star systems devoured whole by magicks of the terrible C'tanOld Ones.1-p24  Despite their legendary patience and implacabilityHowever, a seemingly unforseen side effect of the Old Ones began to grow desperate manifest in this era as the Young Races growing pains disturbed the Warp itself with this formless energy coalescing and older warp entities become predatory as the Empyrean began breeding new forms life with an even stronger connection to become a more hostile environment. From cracks in reality, the denizens of the warp sought entry into the material universe which forced the Warp with Old Ones to bring about the hope that these emergence of new scions may channel their psychic might species to defend their masterslast strongholds. The races created were innumerable and many of them are now nearly extinct such as Among their creations included the greenskinned hardy K.nibKrork and the technology mimicking RashanJokaero. Others left a greater mark on historyHowever, among them it was too late by this point with their intergalactic network being breached with their greatest works and places of power being overrun by the horrors of the warp created by their own creations. Among the most insidious of these entities were the EldarEnslaver, s who dominated the Orks, and minds of the early human Shamans.  It took millennia before these new creations were ready and Young Races in that time, the C'tan along with order to create portals for more of their Necron armies extinguished even more life in kind. The Enslaver Plague became the cosmos.1-p24 During these ancient times, final blow for the Eldar learnt a great many secrets reign of the Warp from the ancient races known as the Old Oneswho scattered and forever broke their power.51-p18p25 From this encounter, the Eldar learnt technologies that led to the eventual creation of the Webway.4-p12. In time the Eldar fulfulled their masters goal, and succeeded in sealing away the Necrons, trapping them in Tomb Worlds across the stars so that they would never disturb the young races again.
The surviving C'tan and Necrons had the pleasure of seeing the demise of the Old Ones civilisation whilst they themselves retreated into stasis until the cataclysm ended.1-p25 In the power vacuum following the war, the lesser creations of the Old Ones such as Mankind were known to had continued to develop but in unforseen ways.1-p9 Legends continued to speak of the Old Ones with the rune-singers of Craftworld Kaelor depicting the Webway as being a construct of this ancient progenitor race who used it to travel through the stars.7-p151
