Battle-brother is also used to describe another Space Marine regardless of rank when that rank is unknown or is what a [[sergeant]] or higher calls his subordinates<sup>1</sup>
Although many chapters differ their teachings from the [[codexCodex Astartes]] and vary the names and ranks given to the squads and Space Marines that undergo the transformation from Neophyte, the individuals within those squads are still referred to as battle-brothers.<sup>2</sup>
