Personally I'm happy enough in thinking the Blood Ravens are of Thousand Son stock in some way as it just makes sense. You could even argue that Chapter Master Kyras made some deal similar to Magnus in order to preserve the Ravens before ultimately giving in. Unless someone has a different version, the audio drama exact words are "It looked like two of the symbols had been scratched out, or had worn away", not that "one had obviously be hacked at with a blade until it was unrecognizable, while the second had strangely 'faded, as if time had taken its toll.'"
