TauPortalA Cadre (also called a Kau'ui) is a Tau all-arms grouping roughly equivalent in size to an Imperial Guard Company, led by a Cadre Commander. They are made up of multiple teams (La'rua in Tau), which are the smallest standard unit of the Fire Caste.2 == Overview ==The Cadre is a standing formation, and includes a number of infantry and vehicle units within it, including battlesuits and Hammerhead tanks. In this regard, the Tau are very different to the Imperium in the organisation of their military, for the different "arms" are fully integrated at the tactical level and are considered in all respects part of the same unit. A Cadre normally consists of up to six Fire Warrior teams, plus a number of Pathfinder, Stealth and Battlesuit teams, plus a handful of Hammerhead tanks or more specialised vehicles such as the Sky Ray Gunship. [#REDIRECT [Auxiliary]] troops such as Kroot Carnivores may be attached for a tactical role, being administratively detached from a higher level such as a Command. A Hunter Cadre keeps a large stock of equipment and vehicles, allowing it to operate in a variety of roles. By fielding an equal amount of Devilfish-mounted Fire Warrior teams and Hammerhead tanks for example, the Cadre may operate as an armoured unit. Alternatively, by fielding Fire Warrior teams on foot as support for specialised Stealth and Pathfinder teams, the Cadre becomes an infiltration force. ==Sources==*1: Warhammer 40000 Apocalypse, pgs. 156-161*2: Codex: Tau Empire (6th Edition) pg.41===Uncited===Uncited*Codex: Tau Empire (4th Edition)
