Later Astraeos and his comrades escaped with the help of Ahzek Ahriman and retook the Titan Child. In exchange he reluctantly swore an oath to aid Ahriman, that bound him and his brothers. Astraeos and his brothers assisted Ahriman with discovering who was seeking him out, and eventually identified the man as Amon, who they helped Ahriman to destroy and take over his fleet.
After Amon was defeated, Astraeos and his surviving brother Kadin were relived of their oaths however they still served pledged new oaths of loyalty to Ahriman under their own free will.1 By the time Ahriman had consolidated his power and had taken full control of Amon's warband, the Brotherhood of Dust (now called the Prodigal Sons), he planned to seek where the Athenaeum of Kallimakus was and take it's secrets for himself. In order to locate where the Athenaeum of Kallimakus was he needed to seek out the Inquisitor called Iobel and pry secrets about the Athenaeum of Kallimakus from her mind. In order to aid the success of this plan he sends Astraeos to be captured by the Inquisition and is tortured for secrets about Ahriman and his plans. Unknowingly to the Inquisition, Astraeos being there served as a boon to Ahriman's cause. This was because Astraeos's mind served as a beacon making it easier for Ahriman and his followers to psychicly teleport into the Inquisition's base of operations and take Iobel for themselves. After Ahriman enacted this plan and successfully took Iobel away, Astraeos had been left behind and sufferered an injury that resulted in the loss of his face and his ability to see through natural means. Astraeos was re-captured and was tortured by the Inquistion for additional secrets. When Ahriman had just attained the Athenaeum of Kallimakus he contacted Astraeos via a psychic link and provided Astraeos with a means to escape. Once Astraeos escaped he was chased down by 4 Grey Knights and after killing one he was overwhelmed by the remaining 3 Grey Knights and was on the brink of defeat. In a despite act to survive he bonded with the daemon that had previously inhabited his brother's body (Cadar). With their combined strength they defeated the Grey Knights and escaped the clutches of the Inquisition. 2
