Tallin was selected by [[Sasia Koraloth]] to aid her in her research into a [[Great Crusade]]-era weapon known as the [[Soulspear]]. When Koraloth eventually bypassed its gene-locks and attempted to test-fire the device, the resulting explosion destroyed her laboratory and killed fellow acolytes [[Kolo Vaien|Vaien]] and [[GalentianGelentian]]. Tallin, however, was able to save himself when he instinctively ducked.{{Fn|1}}
