At one point in his service with the tech-guard, Tallin fought in support of the [[Astra Militarum|Imperial Guard]] against the [[Tyranid]]s on [[Ichar IV]]. While there, he had the privilege of witnessing a [[Vermis-class Bio-Titan]] be killed by a single [[Vortex Missile]], fired by an [[Emperor Titan|Imperator Titan]].{{Fn|1}}
Tallin was selected by [[Sasia Koraloth]] to aid her in her research into a [[Great Crusade]]-era weapon known as the [[Soulspear]]. When Koraloth eventually bypassed its gene-locks and attempted to test-fire the device, the resulting explosion destroyed her laboratory and killed fellow acolytes [[Kolo Vaien|Vaien]] and [[Gelentian]]. Tallin, however, was able to save himself when he instinctively ducked.{{Fn|1}}
