Born on the world of [[Holscht]], Folker presented himself to the [[Chaplain]]s of the Black Templars bearing his father's sword and declared himself ready for any trial awaiting him.{{Fn|1}}

[[Chaplain]] [[Burkarys]] determined that Folker's warrior spirit was indeed strong and possessed the ruthless edge required by the Black Templars. After all of the trials were successfully completed, Folker was allowed to become a [[neophyte]]. During his trials , Folker showed great bravery which was honoured by the [[chapter]]'s artificers, who took his father's sword and crafted it into a [[power sword]].
