He was recalled from the [[Deathwatch]], in order to lead the [[Caedomian Crusade]] which was attached to an [[Indomitus Crusade]] Battle Group. Mauger's forces were then reinforced with [[Primaris Space Marine|Primaris]] [[Black Templar]] [[Greyshields]], but unlike many of his [[Chapter]]'s other Crusades, Mauger's [[Firstborn]] [[Battle Brothers|Brothers]] were slow to accept these new warriors. Tensions still remained high as Mauger led the in the Indomitus Crusade and they were later struck by a disaster. A grueling eight-day battle saw the Caedomian Crusade suffer significant losses and in its aftermath, Mauger sought to perform an act of penance. He would chose to undergo the [[Rubicon Primaris]] for the losses the Crusade suffered and in the hopes of bridging the divisions within his forces. The operation was a success and Mauger emerged shriven of his sins and filled with bloody determination to serve the [[God-Emperor]].{{Fn|1}}
