Active during the [[Sabbat Worlds Crusade]], he served as [[Marshal (Imperial Guard)|Marshal]] [[Edric Croe|Croe's]] [[adjutant]] in the [[Siege of Vervunhive]].{{Fn|11a}} In the course of the Third [[Zoican]] Storm of [[Vervunhive]], the hive's [[Void Shield|energy shields]] failed due to the [[Chaos|corruption]] of the hive's High Master, [[Salvador Sondar]]. When this happened, Marshal Croe was leading a corps of reinforcements to the front lines of the Siege. Although Croe wanted to return to the hive's Main Spire to confront Sondar and get the shield back online, he realised that to turn back at that point would destroy the defenders' morale. He stood and fought even as the Zoican hordes overran the [[Sondar Gate]], dying in the fighting.{{Fn|1a}} Otte was one of the few to make it back to the command centre alive, carrying [[Sword of Heironymo Sondar|Croe's sword]], to present the weapon to whomever succeeded the Marshal.
