Later in the [[Siege of Vervunhive]], Wheln was amongst those Tanith deployed to defend the [[Veyveyr Gate]] against the Second [[Ferrozoica|Zoican]] Storm of [[Vervunhive]]. In the course of the fighting, Wheln was shot in the leg by a Zoican soldier.{{Fn|2}}
While the Tanith First were conducting operations on [[Hagia]], [[Colonel]] [[Colm Corbec|Corbec]] was captured by the [[Infardi]] during the retaking of the [[Holy Doctrinopolis]]. Wheln volunteered to accompany [[Sergeant (Imperial Guard)|Sergeant]] [[Gol Kolea|Kolea]] on a rescue mission despite the Tanith being ordered to evacuate the city in preparation for an impending armoured assault on the Doctrinopolis by the [[Eighth Pardus Armoured]].{{Fn|3b}}
