Alecto is an Imperial Hive World1a, that lies far from any of its major war-zones2, and is home to the sprawling Hive city Varangantua1a. The city has a population of billions and is so large that it has different climatic zones2. Because of its size, Varangantua has been subdivided into numerous districts, which are watched over by the Sanctioners Enforcers1b and are defended by the Alecto Urban PDF Regiments1c. The people of Alecto know nothing about the state of the galaxy and most are convinced that Xenos are not real2. The hive city has several enclaves belonging to the Adeptus Mechanicus producing things such as high-grade servitors for off-world export. Most of these enclaves belong to the foremost Forge World in Alectos part of the Segmentum, Zhao-Arkkad. 3a
Before the Imperium claimed the world, Alecto was home to a Human population and had a striving Cult called Salvia. The Cult had existed for thousands of years and when the first Imperial settlers arrived, the members of Salvia helped them to survive on Alecto. Once the Imperium gained a firm hold on the world, though1a, the Cult was forced to worship in secret for fear of being hunted by the Ministorum.1c
