The people of Istrouma live short lives, with few living past 30. They thus spend their short existences accumulating knowledge and then pass on their works to their successors, each generation contributing to familial tomes kept in the great libraries of the world. They welcomed the Tome Keepers as the sky warriors of legend, but today find the near-immortals to be pariahs and walking dead.{{Fn|2}}
