Talin Sherax is a [[Tech Priest]] who has lived several centuries{{Fn|2e}} and was appointed to the command of the ''Peregrinus'' 27 Martian years prior to the destruction of Gryphonne IV.{{Fn|2b}} During that time she was a member of [[Explorator Fleet Rhi-Alpha-2]] and her liege lord, mentor, and sponsor was Lord Explorator [[Satavic Yuel]].{{Fn|2f}}
Protector [[Phocon Xal]] is Talin Sherax's devoted lifeward. He is a [[Skitarii]] who's function is to guard Sherax{{Fn|2d}} and by extension her collegues. The role of lifeward affords the Skittarii access to Sherax's [[Noosphere|Noospheric]] communion shared between herself and her close colleagues, even if her takes no part in the dialogue held. Xal was adopted as the explorator superior's lifeward 52 Martian years prior to their expedition into the Space Hulk, ''Misery's Daughter''.{{Fn|2h}}
