It took place sometime after the [[Great Rift]]'s creation, when [[Chapter Master]] [[Kayvaan Shrike]] called the [[Raven Guard]]'s Command to the [[Ravenspire]]. There, the Raven Guard learned that they were to be scattered across the [[Imperium]], from the [[Imperium Sanctus|Segmentae Sanctus]] to the darkest reaches of [[Imperium Nihilus]]. Afterwards, each [[Shadow Captain]] received his own secret orders and set out with grim determination, towards goals only known to Chapter Master Shrike.{{Fn|1}}
Afterwards, Shrike resigned as [[Chapter Master]], feeling himself inadequate for the role of high command and not exemplifying the [[Trifold Path of Shadow]]. 1st Company Captain [[Aethon Shaan]] was appointed as the new Master of Shadows.{{Fn|2}}
