Jotungarth is a planet of grey clouded skies, mountainous icebergs, and bitter seas. During the [[Macharian Crusade]], it was named by [[Ulrik Grimfang]] of the [[Space Wolves]], who remarked that its harsh oceans made ''[[Fenris ]] for the soft-hearted'' by comparison. The planet is inhospitable, yet its oceans teem with life, making it a valued agri-resource for the Imperium.{{Fn|1}}

The majority of Jotungarth’s population live in vast underwater settlements and within heavily armoured city-ships that ride its freezing waves. The [[Noble|nobility]], however, dwell in immense ice-palaces carved from the largest icebergs, creating glittering fortresses that dominate the planet’s surface. Despite the world’s lethal climate, its oceans are warmer than the surface ice due to high salinity.{{Fn|1}}

The [[Noble Houses House]]s of Jotungarth rule the planet, dwelling apart from the general population in their iceberg redoubts. Their augmented physiques allow them to withstand extreme cold, reinforcing their separation from the common folk.{{Fn|1}}

The most infamous of these is the Seeress '''[[Gytha Breen''']], who dwells in a cave at the summit of a vast iceberg. She reads the future using the [[Emperor’s Tarot]], crafted from the fangs of Jotungarth’s great sea predators. Her prophecies, though cryptic, are widely regarded as accurate, and even the [[Inquisition]] is rumoured to have sought her counsel. She demands unusual tasks as payment, often of sinister nature, ensuring her influence remains immense.{{Fn|1}}

The [[Astra Militarum ]] is highly respected on Jotungarth, and service in its ranks is seen as an honourable calling. Regiments [[Regiment]]s raised here specialise in stealth and harpoon warfare, wielding ivory-inlaid weapons with unerring precision.
