Somrot was lightly tithed by the Imperium, visited only once every twenty years due to its lack of industry or advanced infrastructure. Its scattered populations lived in feudal polities across varied biomes, providing little of value beyond agricultural produce and raw materials.1
This isolation left Somrot helpless when the Khrave descended a century ago. The xenos wrought devastation across the planet, consuming populations wholesale. No Imperial fleet would have reached Somrot in time were it not for a chance event in the Immaterium. The Filia Fulmen, a Mechanicus Explorator vessel, was cast out of the Warp by accident and crash-landed on the planet’s surface.1
The survivors included several Tech-Priests and Skitarii, led by the unconventional Artisan Magos known as the Callulus the Enumerator. The desperate Somroti Highborn swiftly pledged themselves to Callulus in exchange for protection from the Khrave.1
The resulting troops were unlike anything seen elsewhere in the Imperium:
* Knights – Wielding massive powered claymores, reinforced with augmetic limbs.
* Cavalry Scouts – Equipped with reclaimed Skitarii gear, combat harnesses, and crude augmentations.
* Explosive Spearmen – Troopers adapted with explosive spear-flingers capable of piercing tank armour.
