→Tutelage: Minor correction of word error.
Kais begun his tutelage under [[Twiceblade]] at only four [[T%27au_Lexicon#Time_and_length_units|Tau'cyr]] old. On his first day of training Kais slinked away. When caught by Twiceblade, Kais was reprimanded in front of his entire class. This hardened Kais' heart. Twiceblade, when speaking around two to three centuries later, would comment that the look in Kais' eyes then still haunted him.{{Fn|5a}}
At an unknown point in time after this Kais, alongside [[Shadowsun]] and [[Farsight]], was selected to be a pupil of Master [[Puretide]].{{Fn|2c}} Kais often held an independant streak, though he did draw close with Farsight and Shadowsun. Kais and Farsight would both chide Shadowsun for how often she spoke of ghosts.{{Fn|3a}} Kais would struggle to pick up on subtleties in the bond the three shared.{{Fn|3b}} During their tutelage under Puretide, Kais would learn not just from Puretide, but also his fellow students, such as when Shadowsun taught Kais how to independantly focus his eyseyes.{{Fn|5c}}
