Like all those created at that time, the Vespertine Guard's zealous [[Guardsmen]] were eager to prove their loyalty to the [[Imperium]] and sought revenge against the [[Traitors]] of the [[Horus Heresy]]. They would be among those who fought against the [[Chaos]] forces of the [[Chaos Lord]] [[Morloth]], during the [[Great Scouring]]. As the battle raged, it was eleven thousand of the Vespertine's guns that finally destroyed Morloth's [[Chaos Terminator]] retinue, a deed which was later commemorated in a scroll of honorhonour.{{Fn|1}}
