Its main sapient species are nomadic tribal [[human]]s named [[Xur]] who mostly worship [[Khorne]] under the name of Baphtar. There are clear signs that Xurunt was a [[Civilized World]], but fell to a catastrophe; the current inhabitants do not talk of the "before times" out of superstitious fear.{{Fn|1}}
The only structures taller than hovels are eight bronze idols of a bull-headed creature the Xur call Baphtar. These are considered holy and attract those who would fight for honor honour before them, always to the death. After months of such ritualistic murders, sometime few and sometimes no Xur survive; those that do are treated with fear and respect.{{Fn|1}}
The winters of Xurunt are short, but harsh, forcing the nomads to stop warring against other. They avoid each other unless provoked and either fortify camps for the duration or migrate to the warmer equator. The warlords who campaign through and survive the winter are called [[Frost Father]]s.{{Fn|1}}
