The Glaive of Janus served for almost ten thousand years as the flagship of the First Brotherhood.{{Fn|1b}} After the conclusion of the [[First War of Armageddon]] the warship took part in the containment campaign on the planet of [[Armageddon]].{{Fn|1a}}
During the [[Months of Shame]], the Battle Barge alongside its [[frigate]]s, [[Kaskara]] and [[Spatha (Frigate)|Spatha]], were destroyed by a [[Space Wolves]] ambush, resulting in the death of 50 veterans of the 1st Brotherhood. The remains of the three ships were later find by the the Grey Knights frigate [[Karabela]].{{Fn|1b}}
