There are many differences with the narrative of the Siege of Terra as originally told in older sources with that of the [[Black Library (BL Publishing)|Black Library]] novel series. Most notably these include:
*It is left ambiguous as to who actually stands between Horus and the Emperor's broken body, with some stating it was a Custodian, Space Marine, or lone Guardsman [[Ollanius Pius]]. The Black Library novels reveal all three to have been true at different points.{{CME}}
*The Emperor is insistent that he be brought back to the throne after defeating Horus, whereas in the novels he is unconscious and they discover a tarot guide of the throne to guide them to the conclusion.{{CME}}
