Tenalus Proteik
Tenalus Proteik is the 9th Captain in the Castellans of the Rift Chapter and commander of the Strike Cruiser Dark Sentry.[1]
History
Like all Castellans, Proteik defends the Nachmund Gauntlet for the Imperium. Among the many battles he fought to do so was against the Space Hulk Lament of Ages, when it threatened the Imperial moon Siboseis. Its leaders had been staunch allies of the Castellans since the Chapter began defending the Gauntlet, and Captain Proteik was adamant that he would protect the moon from the space hulk. Thanks to the scanning efforts of the Techmarine Nikol, a fault was found within the Lament of Ages and Proteik's forces could steer it away from Siboseis using a warhead from his Strike Cruiser, Dark Sentry. However, after they entered the space hulk, the Castellans were constantly attacked by the forces of Chaos and various Xenos. They eventually reached the Lament's fault line and prepared the warhead to detonate while still being attacked. After it was ready to be activated, though, Nikol realized some of the Castellans would need to protect the warhead from the space hulk's inhabitants until it exploded. The Techmarine was the first to volunteer and the rest of Captain Proteik's forces soon followed. He was never more proud of his Chapter than at that moment and quickly picked ten other Castellans to remain with Nikol while the rest of his forces made their escape. They were then able to safely return to their fleet, before the warhead exploded and the Lament of Ages was sent careering away from Siboseis. Thanks to Nikol and the others' sacrifice, the moon's population was saved and Proteik vowed their names would be remembered with the greatest of honours.[1]
