Tra (three in Fenrisian[1a]), known as the Eagles Keepers[7], was the 3rd Great Company of the Space Wolves Space Marine Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1a]

History

Tra was noted as being a particularly superstitious yet nonetheless pragmatic Great Company which particularly valued the role of Skjald.[1b] They had a specialty in Assault Squads and support armour.[7] Gaining prominence throughout the Great Crusade, for a time they were given the honor of custodianship over The Fang on Fenris. Like the rest of the Space Wolves, they took a grim pride in their role as the Emperor's executioners.[1a] By the end of the Great Crusade, Tra was led by Jarl Ogvai Ogvai Helmschrot and displayed itself as ruthlessly efficient during the extermination of the Olamic Quietude.[1b] Over the course of this campaign, the Human academic Kasper Ansbach Hawser became bonded with Tra as their Skjald, in particular with his handler Bear.[1c]

As the Horus Heresy erupted, Tra was one of the primary Space Wolves forces during the Burning of Prospero, where they suffered grievous casualties and considered themselves "hollow" both physically and spiritually in the aftermath.[1d] As a result of Prospero and the subsequent devastating Battle of the Alaxxes Nebula against the Alpha Legion, Tra Pack Leader Bjorn became a key advisor and confidant of Space Wolves Primarch Leman Russ.[2] With Bjorn growing ever-closer under the Primarch, Tra fought alongside Russ at both the Battle of Trisolian[3a] and the Battle of Yarant.[4] They arrived with Russ at Terra just as the siege was lifted and acting as Russ' emissary, Bjorn worked with the Dark Angels and Imperial Fists in organising a new crusade against the fleeing Traitors.[5]

After the Heresy, the Space Wolves Great Company's no longer went by their previous numeric designations,[6] so what precisely became of Tra and its members is unknown save that Bjorn still lives as the most venerated Dreadnought within the Chapter and one of the oldest beings within the Imperium.[8]
