The Trade War was a civil war on the Imperial planet Verghast, which occurred roughly 90 years prior to the Siege of Vervunhive.^[1a]

The conflict was between two of the planet's major hive cities - Vervunhive and Ferrozoica Hive Manufactory (or Zoica). By the end of the war, Vervunhive had triumphed (although many noted that it was a very close victory)^[1b] and its standing army, the Vervun Primary, won great honour.^[1a]
