History
It began when the Necron forces of the Silent King Szarekh invaded the Paradyce System, as part of their attack on the Pariah Nexus. While various Indomitus Crusade Battle Groups went to the System's aid, a stalemate would develop in their battles with the Necrons. This suddenly changed, when the great Space Hulk Wurldburna appeared from the Warp and crashed into Paradyce V. Among those the Space Hulk deposited on the Industrial World, were millions of Orks who began waging war on the Imperial and Necron forces fighting there,[1] and often on each other.[2] Their arrival threatened the plans of the Silent King, as the Paradyce System was a vital part of Szarekh's Pylon network, which was designed to quell the Warp. Because of this, more of his forces would be sent to Paradyce V to deal with the Orks and this broke the deadlock that the System had been held in.[1] The Imperium began preparations to take advantage of this, even as other Xenos factions and Chaos forces also began to invade the world[1] This included numerous Orks[3] and even Necrons who opposed the Silent King's reign as well.[1]
The redeployment of Szarekh's forces, caused the Imperium to launch renewed assaults throughout the Paradyce System, including a new effort to save the embattled Paradyce V.[1] This became known as the Paradyce Reclamation Force and it was led by Indomitus Crusade Fleet Primus' Battle Group Hephaestus. Among its other forces where the Sons of Medusa, Iron Hands and Carcharodons Chapters who launched the first attack on the world. Named the Iron Night, the joint operation overwhelmed the rampaging Orks and threatened to end their domination over Paradyce V. The following weeks led the Imperium to claim more victories, as the entire Paradyce Reclamation Force fought the Orks to a standstill. Despite their success, infighting did erupt within the Imperium's forces, though this was mainly caused by the Shrouded Skulls Chapter.[2]
Even with their success, however, other factions continued to invade Paradyce V and these various forces began to tilt the war away from both the Imperium and Szarekh's Necrons. Eventually a decisive battle won by the Ork Kommanda Gorgit Killsnik, led the Paradyce Reclamation Force to declare that the Industrial World was lost to the Imperium. With no hope of reclaiming it, Battle Group Hephaestus left to find other battles to take part in within the Pariah Nexus and they were joined by a majority of the Reclamation Force. While there were a few Imperial forces that continued to fight for Paradyce V, they were now vastly outnumbered. The Necrons meanwhile, continued to fight for the world, though they no longer saw it fit enough to join their Infinite Empire. It is thought that the Necron Lords would unite their strength in order to purge Paradyce V, but rumours claim that the Phaeron Empress Arkhassa was no longer interested in fighting there. However with the absence of Battle Group Hephaestus' warships, fleets from various factions are constantly appearing in the world's orbit. Whatever the Necrons decide, Paradyce V will continue to be ravaged by war for years to come.[3]
